The Yamaha Recording Custom 6.5x14 Aluminum Snare Drum delivers the legendary focus and precision that drummers have trusted for decades—now with the modern edge of a seamless aluminum shell. Developed in collaboration with Steve Gadd, this snare combines Yamaha’s meticulous craftsmanship with the warmth and punch of aluminum.
Its 1.2mm shell and center bead construction produce a crisp, articulate voice with controlled overtones, while the deeper 6.5” size adds extra body and low-end weight. Outfitted with 2.3mm DynaHoops, a smooth Q-type throw-off, and 25-strand snare wires, the Recording Custom Aluminum snare responds effortlessly to subtle ghost notes yet delivers the power needed for cutting backbeats.
