    Very versatile terrific ride!

So I have acquired the bulk of the modern essentials line and I wanted to give some feedback. The 20" ride is amazing! Great for rock, blues, funk and jazz. The bell is very clear and musical. The crashability is incredible and never gets too overpowering. The bow sound is light, airy and defined and has a very nice dark and soft wash to support it. Overall I'm a big fan! I also have the 22" ride and I can offer a few comments about that as well. The 22" is also extremely versatile but due to its size is a little less controllable. The crash is a little more "roar like". For smaller rooms like my studio and band practice I prefer the 20" but I think both are amazing. If I was playing primarily jazz I might give the 22" a bigger nod (it's not that the 20" is in any way inferior it's just that lighter playing is more of a necessity with the 22" and the 20" requires less finesse).

Description

Full, rich, warm, strong, deep, silvery. Wide range, complex mix. Responsive and even feel. Warm sparkling stick sound over a wide, deep wash. Fairly quick, hefty crash sound. Extremely dynamic and lively Ride cymbal, suitable for many musical styles. “A translucent warmth with definition and a really good controllable wash in the right proportions”, says Vinnie Colaiuta.
